Making the Ask: Securing Institutional Support
Many faculty are able to participate in NCFDD programs with the financial support of their colleges or universities. Institutions know that investing in faculty professional development pays off — not only in productivity and retention, but also in student success, stronger mentoring, and a healthier academic community.
While asking for support can feel intimidating, the good news is that countless faculty members have successfully secured institutional funding. With a clear, confident request, you can too.
In the video below, we walk you through exactly how to make a compelling case for institutional support. You’ll learn how to:
- Position your request as mutually beneficial.
- Create an irresistible offer for your institution.
Approach the conversation with clarity and confidence.
Take a few minutes to watch, and get ready to make the ask with confidence.
Am I Eligible for a Scholarship?
Our Making the Ask is an effective system for securing institutional support but occasionally, we have individuals who don’t get funded so we’ve set up a system where every term, we offer full-tuition scholarships exclusively to people who have made the ask at their institution but have been turned down.
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Watch the Making the Ask training
- Follow the steps and make the ask for support at your college or university
- Document who you asked, how you asked, and the outcome of your requests
- Complete the Making the Ask Scholarship Application Survey
