Department Chair Success Program

The Department Chair Success Program is a 12-week guided experience built for new and recently appointed department chairs. It equips participants with the leadership skills, tools, and support to navigate the complexities of academic leadership while building an inclusive and effective department.

Here’s how it works:

• You meet weekly in a small peer group of 5–6 chairs, facilitated by an experienced chair coach.
• You complete short, practical learning activities grounded in NCFDD’s Chair Skills curriculum—including videos, case studies, and real-world tools.
• You focus on three core areas: strategic planning, department management, and personal well-being.

It’s designed to help you lead with intention, not just react to the day-to-day.

In our inaugural cohort, 97% of participants said they felt more confident navigating leadership challenges, and 95% said they gained actionable tools they could apply right away.
